1. Click on the Start button to display the start menu.
2. Click on the Controel Panel.
3. In the Control Panel window, Click on the Network and Internet Connections option.
4. Click onInternet Options. The Internet Properties dialog box will appear.
5. Click on the Connections tab.
6. To Set Up Internet connection Click on Set Up ( The new connection Wizard dialog box appears.
7. Click on the Next Button to continue.
8. Click on the Radio button of Connect to the Internet.
9. Click on the Next button.
10. Click on the Radio button of Set Up My connection Manually.
11. Click on the Next button.
12. Click on the radio button of Connect using a dial-up modem.
13.Click on the Next button.
14. Type the Name of your internet service provider in the ISP Name box.
15. Click the Next button.
16. Click on the Phone number box and type the phone number given by your ISP.
17. Click on the Next button.
18. Type the User Name.
19. Type the Password.

22. If you want to add a shortcut of this connection on your desktop. Click on the check box of Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.

INSTALLING A MODEM

Install a modem in windows XP
1. Click on the start button.
2. Click on the control panel option.
3. Click on the Printers and other Hardware option.
4. Click on the Phone and Modem options.
5. Click on the Modems tab
6. Click on the Add button ( Add Hardware Wizard dislog box will appear ).
7. Cick on the Next button ( If the windows could not find your modem, you will see the message. )
8. Click on the Next button.
9. Select the Manufacturer and Models of modem from the list box. ( If the modem has an installation disc, insert the disc and click on Have Disk instead ).
10. Click on the Next button.
11. Select the Com port you want to use.
12. Click on the Next button.
13. When message appears that your modem has been set up successfully, click on Finish button in Add Hrdware Wizard dialog box.
14. The Modem name has been added in the Modems tab of Phone and Modem Options dialog box.
15. To change the setting of the Modem Click on Properties button otherwise click on OK button to finally install the modem and return to Control Panel.
